Hello Everyone,
Today I discovered my Friday post did not get on here. Sorry. For anyone still reading I will try to reconstitute the heart of it.
Decolonizing was a new word today. People were concerned with developing broad based pedagogues that address language and learners in decolonizing contexts and with research that would support these pedagogues. We might think of it as the mass literacy project of these times.
Affect also was a new and contested term. People differed in their definitions and in their view of the value of affect in knowledge making.
People observed how discourses are so rich and endowed and often generous in their generativity. Still many writers (especially those we know best) remain disinherited. I for one am struck by this paradox.
Who is missing? Joined What is missing? as an analytic question.
I think those were the important parts. Hope everyone arrived home safely.
