Most valuable from this paper:
I love this paper and its focus on the forms that languages take when they are decoupled from their original/ and/or “native” contexts and presented/altered in other non-local/non-native/non-original contexts. Very, very smart.
A response and challenge:
How do we pay attention—simultaneously—both to the local and the non-local, the original and the appropriated, the old meanings and the new meanings, the dynamic flow of meanings in various semiotic systems? How do we record these changing semiotic systems? How do we show the flows of these practices and how they change? How do we represent them? What media and modalities do we use in our efforts to accomplish these tasks?
